The iPad 3 release date is now widely rumored to be on Mar. 7, 2012; or to be more precise, that’s the day of the iPad 3 announcement at a special event in San Francisco to launch the new iPad. The iPad 3 release date could be as soon as a week after that, according to AllThingsD who cites previous iPad announcement / release cycles. Other big ticket news items that are of-the-moment are 4G LTE capabilities, Retina Display, an A6 processor with quad-core capabilities, rumors of a smaller iPad that we heard so much about earlier this year ... the iPad Mini or so-called iPad 4. More about this below, along with iPad 3 features and specs. First, the reason why Apple CEO Tim Cook thinks the iPad is what it is based on today’s comments at a Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet conference:
“The reason the iPad’s ramp has been so large in my view is that the iPad has stood on the shoulders of everything that came before it — the iTunes store, the iPhone. People trained on these products so by the time the iPad launched it was intuitive to use. I gave one to my mother and she knew how to use it, like this, just from watching the commercial” he said, according to AllThingsD.
